The Creation of the Alpegg Organic Chalets – A Look Behind the Scenes

The Bio Chalets Alpegg in Waidring were founded by the hosts Cornelia and Roland Defrancesco. Driven by their vision to create a haven of peace and comfort, they began in 2016 with the planning and construction of the chalets. Their aim was to offer a unique holiday experience that combines traditional Tyrolean architecture with modern design. The opening took place on 24 December 2016.

Construction and architecture

The three main chalets and the main house were designed by the renowned architectural firm P3 and built by Holzbau Foidl . Natural materials such as wood and stone blend the chalets harmoniously into the Tyrolean mountain landscape, whilst large panoramic windows let in plenty of light and offer unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside.

The Casa, our special family chalet, was designed by Cornelia’s brother, who worked at Planwerker Holzerber, and subsequently built by the Kienpointner team. Craftsmanship and great attention to detail have gone into every room and every piece of furnishings.

The Tiny Chalet, finally, was designed and built by the carpenters at Krepper Holzbau GmbH. Despite its compact size, it combines functionality, cosiness and modern Alpine style.

The interior design of all the chalets was carefully thought out by the hosts Cornelia and Roland with great care and lovingly designed.

Craftsmanship, local businesses and support for families

Alongside professional craft businesses from the region, which specialised in timber construction, interior design and landscaping , the Defrancesco family actively lent a hand.
The host family supported Cornelia and Roland on the building site and helped ensure that the chalets were completed on schedule and with great attention to detail.

Sustainability and Innovation

All chalets have been designed with sustainability in mind: energy-efficient technology, solar panels and environmentally friendly materials help to reduce the ecological footprint. At the same time, all the accommodation offers modern comforts, open-plan layouts and cosy retreat areas.

Art and Design

The interiors of the chalets have been designed with great attention to detail. Modern furniture, combined with traditional elements, creates a cosy and stylish atmosphere. Special touches are provided by works of art and photographs, which reflect the connection to the region and to nature.
