Since the start of this year, the Bio Chalets Alpegg have been awarded the Eco-Label. This award highlights our consistent commitment to the environment, regionality and sustainable practices.
Right from the start, we have championed the ‘organic’ philosophy and relied on regional partners, short supply chains and locally sourced products wherever possible to reduce transport distances and conserve resources. We also worked closely with local tradespeople and businesses from the region when building our chalets.
The result is a coherent overall concept that embraces responsibility and treats nature with care – this is what Bio Chalets Alpegg stands for.
Travelling sustainably in the Pillerseetal valley – bus travel included
In the Pillerseetal valley, you can get about easily without a car: use of the regional buses is included in the Guest Card. This allows you to travel comfortably to hiking starting points, day-trip destinations and surrounding towns such as Kitzbühel, Ellmau and Lofer.

A stress-free journey to the Alpegg Organic Chalets – train and shuttle included
Getting to the Bio Chalets Alpegg in Waidring is particularly convenient: The journey by train to Fieberbrunn railway station, followed by the shuttle service to the chalets are included in the guest card.
This way, you can travel in a relaxed and sustainable manner, entirely without a car – and your holiday begins even before you arrive.
Tyrolean natural care products for our guests
We are delighted to offer our guests soaps and hair and body shampoos from Pure Green Cosmetics – a Tyrolean brand renowned for its natural, sustainable products. The ingredients are sourced locally and offer a fresh, authentic experience. For our guests, we have chosen the ‘Lemon Balm’ variety, which ensures a pleasant start to the day with its refreshing scent.
A cosy tea time with Sonnentor
We are proud to offer organic teas from Sonnentor – an Austrian brand that stands for sustainability and the highest quality. With organically grown herbs and fruit teas, Sonnentor promotes fair trade and the conservation of nature. Every cup of tea connects our guests with the tradition of organic farming in Austria.
Afro Coffee – Sustainable coffee enjoyment at the Bio Chalets Alpegg
Afro Coffee stands for fair-trade, sustainably and organically grown coffee with a unique aroma. The beans are sourced directly from coffee farmers in Africa and are carefully roasted to guarantee the very best flavour. From now on, you can make your stay at Bio Chalets Alpegg even more enjoyable with a cup of Afro Coffee – aromatic, fair trade and with a clear conscience.
Solar power for a sustainable holiday in a chalet.
The Alpegg Organic Chalets generate well over two-thirds of their electricity requirements themselves using their in-house photovoltaic system. The PV modules installed on the roof have a capacity of just over 15 kWp. This equates to around 15,000 kWh of self-generated electricity per year, produced from the sun as a renewable energy source. The solar system in the garden of the Bio Chalets Alpegg produces the hot water required for this holiday oasis. Any additional electricity required is generated from 100% renewable energy sources. This represents a major step towards a fully sustainable overall concept.
Soak up the sunshine and use local transport for free.
At the Bio Chalets Alpegg, you can travel in an eco-friendly and environmentally conscious way. In the private carport at Bio Chalets Alpegg, two solar-powered charging points are available for our guests to charge their electric cars. It’s best to charge your car during the day so that the energy from the sun can be utilised. We provide environmentally friendly transport free of charge via our guest card, which includes all public transport in the region.
Bioheat from Waidring, supplied by local farmers.
Our heating requirements are met by the local district heating plant in Waidring, which runs on wood chips. The wood used to generate this energy comes directly from the forests managed by local farmers.
Happy bees and organic honey.
Our host Roland is a passionate organic Demeter beekeeper from Waidring. We’re absolutely smitten with bees and our award-winning organic honey from the Tyrolean mountains. Species-appropriate and sustainable beekeeping is Roland’s top priority, which is why his business will be awarded the Demeter organic certification from 2024. The bees provide us with the finest honey whilst also helping to preserve unspoilt nature and colourful flower meadows.
