Since the beginning of this year, Bio Chalets Alpegg has been officially awarded the Austrian Ecolabel. This recognition highlights our strong commitment to environmental responsibility, regional partnerships, and sustainable practices.
From the very beginning, we have embraced the philosophy of “organic” and work closely with regional partners, focusing on short supply chains and locally sourced products to reduce transportation and conserve resources. During the construction of our chalets, we also collaborated primarily with craftsmen and companies from the region.
The result is a holistic concept that takes responsibility and treats nature with care – values that define Bio Chalets Alpegg.

Solar Power for a Sustainable Chalet Vacation
The Bio Chalets Alpegg generate well over two-thirds of their electricity needs with their in-house photovoltaic system. The PV modules installed on the roof provide around 15 kWp, which equates to approximately 15,000 kWh of self-produced electricity annually, harnessed from the sun as a renewable energy source. The solar system in the garden of the Bio Chalets Alpegg supplies the hot water needed for this vacation oasis. Any additional electricity required is sourced from 100% renewable energy carriers. This marks a significant step towards a fully sustainable overall concept.
Recharge with Solar Energy and Enjoy Free Public Transport
At the Bio Chalets Alpegg, you're traveling in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.
Our private carport offers two solar-powered charging stations for guests to recharge their electric cars. It's best to charge during the day to harness energy directly from the sun. Additionally, we provide environmentally friendly mobility with our guest card, which includes free access to all public transport in the region.
Bioheat from Waidring Provided by Local Farmers
Our heating needs are met by the local biomass heating plant in Waidring, which is powered by wood chips. The wood used for energy production comes directly from the forestry operations of local farmers.
Happy Bees and Organic Honey
Host Roland is a passionate organic beekeeper from Waidring. We’re enthusiastic about bees and our exceptional organic honey from the Tyrolean mountains. Roland prioritizes species-appropriate and sustainable beekeeping, which is why his operation will receive the Bio-Demeter certification starting in 2024. The bees provide us with the finest honey while also ensuring a healthy environment and vibrant flower meadows.

Whether it’s fresh bread from the local bakery or textiles from a regional laundry service, we work with long-standing partners and businesses from the area out of conviction.
