Hidden Gem Hikes around Waidring

Hausberg Circular Trail
Starting point: Waidring village center, Hausberg parking area

Distance: approx. 6.3 km

This circular hike leads through shady forests and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It is ideal for a half-day trip and suitable even in uncertain weather conditions. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of the Loferer Steinberge and the Chiemgau Alps.

Pillersee Circular Walk
Starting point: Pillersee parking area
Duration: approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
Distance: approx. 6 km (loop)
Elevation gain: minimal
Difficulty: easy
Highlights: Kneipp facility, marble run, stand-up paddling, pedal boating
This easy walk circles the picturesque Pillersee lake. Along the route, there are plenty of places to rest and enjoy the scenery. At the lakeshore, the “Seestüberl” offers activities such as stand-up paddling and pedal boating. For children, there is a marble run and the “Steinberg King” adventure station.

Weißbach Gorge
Starting point: Waidring village center
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Distance: approx. 8.1 km (loop)

Difficulty: moderate
Highlights: Kneipp facility, Alpine inn Oberweissbach with adventure playground
This hike leads through the Weißbach Gorge along a rushing stream and through shady forests. There are several rest areas along the way to enjoy nature. A highlight is the Alpengasthof Oberweissbach, offering delicious local cuisine, an adventure playground for children, and an archery course for the whole family.

Triassic Trail – Steinplatte
Starting point: Valley station of the Steinplatte cable car in Waidring
Duration: approx. 1.5 hours
Distance: approx. 4 km (loop)
Elevation gain: approx. 1,869 m

Suitable for strollers: yes (up to the first reservoir)
The Triassic Trail takes you through the Triassic Park on the Steinplatte and offers an exciting journey back to prehistoric times. Interactive stations such as fossil digging and climbing dinosaur models make this hike especially fun for children. The trail is well maintained and partly stroller-friendly, with stunning panoramic views.

Haslerschlucht Gorge – Waidring
Starting point: Haslerschlucht parking / trail entrance

This scenic gorge hike leads through a peaceful natural setting with clear streams, waterfalls, and moss-covered rocks. The well-marked path offers a relaxing nature experience, especially for families and nature lovers. Several viewpoints and photo spots make the hike particularly enjoyable.

Würmbach Waterfall Trail – Lofer
Starting point: Top station of Almbahn I (Loderbichl)
Destination: Almenwelt Lofer (Loferer Alm)

This trail follows the Würmbach stream and passes several rushing waterfalls and small natural pools – a true highlight for nature lovers.
